Hunter Update

Today we went to visit Hunter at the Vets, he looked better than when I brought him in, he really needs to eat though.  We did not get the results today from the tests that were sent away, although the treatment would not really change it would probably give the Dr. a better idea of his prognosis.  Hunter was very happy to see us, Roger and I went and our middle son had the day off and met us there so he was really happy to see one of his "brothers".  We took him outside for a little walk and while some of the updated lab results show improvement in one number two are elevated so the Dr is "cautiously optimistic" that he may do okay.  They also did an ultrasound and there is some liver damage, how much they really can't say, and one of his kidneys may also have some damage.  This was a nasty "bug" and hopefully I will name it tomorrow, but the most important thing will be getting our dog home and healthy again!  The Dr. said he may be able to come home tomorrow or Friday, they would like him to eat, but as we told them  Hunter often doesn't eat when there is change, if Roger and I leave for the day he won't eat all day, even when our sons are home.  So I really think that if he doesn't need any IV meds he should come home where he can be in familiar surroundings with his family and his pesty little "brother" Midnight.

Thank you for your continued prayers and letting me ramble on about my sick dog.  I truly believe in the power of prayer even for God's little creatures.

  1. Oh Hunter is gorgeous.... I am praying like crazy for him.. Our dogs are the same way..Will NOT eat when we are away..So I understand that all to well. Praying for your strength to.. God does heal our best friends to. You take care and I am praying..(((HUGS)))

  2. I too believe God heals our pets. My daughter and I really love our pets they are like family to us because we don't have family. We wish we had family too. Your dogs are so beautiful! You take such good care of them and I'll be happy to see your pup come home. Best to you.

  3. I'm so glad to hear Hunter is doing better! :0)

  4. Thanks for the update, I'll continue to pray for his recovery. So glad you'll be able to get him back home to more normal surroundings!

  5. Oh Denise, I am so happy to hear that Hunter is doing better. Hopefully you can bring him home soon and let him enjoy the pampering I am sure he is going to get. Thanks for the update. Positive thoughts and prayers for you sweetie.

    Hugs, Deb

  6. I'm glad to hear the update. Hope he gets to come home tomorrow. I like it that you visit Hunter at the vet.

Our cat Felix got bitten by a rattlesnake many years ago and was at the animal hospital for nine days, hooked up to and IV for six of them. Grampy would go by there twice a day and they'd bring the cat out to the waiting room, IV and all and Brampy would sit in the rocking chair and rock Felix.

My Trixie won't eat or drink when we're gone either. When my daughter calls she always asks how her little sis is doing. lol Only true pet lovers understand us, right?

  7. I hope Hunter continues to do better. Our dogs have always been very sensitive to change as well. Mope around and won't eat ~ especially when we are gone.
Hunter sure is a handsome member of the family.
I will keep him in my prayers.

  8. I've chosen you for the Sunshine Award. You bring a smile to my face when I read your posts and comments.

I really enjoy hearing your comments, sorry I had to turn on the "word verification" but I got my first comment from a "non-person".......I prefer comments from people.
